25 Great books about women's wellbeing

WRITTEN BY: KAITLYN DYKMAN

Want to really understand an issue about your health? Pick up a book to take a deep dive and learn what you need to feel and be better. Believe it or not, books that give women straightforward information about their own bodies have been a huge part of moving women’s health forward. Ever heard of Our Bodies, Ourselves? It was the first landmark book published in the U.S. about women’s health, and it was published by a non-profit in 1970. (Not that long ago!) Not only did it give women frank information about their bodies and sexual health—with no taboos, stigmas, or wives’ tales—it also helped push the Women’s Health Movement of the 60s and 70s forward. Books are still a great way to get a lot of information about a health issue. You won’t be rushed through your questions by a doc who's on an insurance company’s time table, and you can learn without having to muster up the courage to ask questions that feel embarrassing. You’ll likely feel expert when you're finished reading. And, today, even though women’s health issues still face challenges, there’s so much cutting edge information we can benefit from. For Women’s History Month, we asked Found team members to put together a list of the books about womens’ wellbeing they recommend. The list is grouped in categories that include biology, nutrition, movement, sleep, emotional health and stress, and social support.
We hope these books shed some light so that you can continue shining yours.
